This is a video that was made for me, several years ago, during a rough time. I came across it and needed to share the goodness! Jared is so goofy and Jensen is so done.
So, once again, I’m tempted to write in another fandom. I wrote my
first Jeeves/Wooster fic, “Hard Boiled Eggs” and I’ve been on a reading
binge for at least a week. A large part of the latter is that my elderly
mother is doing badly and I need to hide from that and from the state
of the world in general. So I plunge into the world of Archive of Our Own 3 for hours on
end.
But is all of my time to be taken up writing fanfic? I’m not
young anymore. I should be turning my thoughts to a memoir, and essays.
I have many ideas. I’ve written about mental illness. Right now I’m
writing a piece about going insane. I’m quite good at it. I’m
considering writing about handling a gun (45) while I was in Memphis and
how I really wanted to buy it. Even though I’m pro-gun control and a
New Yorker to boot. I should finish a long piece I’ve been writing about
my father’s death. Or the time I had orgasms for 18 straight hours. Or
the time a SWAT team showed up on my doorstep and took me to the psych
ward. (Turns out it was a false alarm–someone called in to 911
deliberately. I never found out who it was.) I managed to write about
being deported from England, in “A Basket Full of Cats”.
I
should finish the enormous historical fantasy novel I’ve worked on in
spurts since 2009. I should promote the anthology of my plays that a
small press published over a year ago. I should try to perform more than
twice a year.
Part of me just wants to write about the
unexpected consequences of when Bertie convinces Jeeves to be Fred
Astaire to Bertie’s Ginger Rogers.
If I was younger I wouldn’t be quite so conflicted. Oh, wait, I’m always so conflicted.
I've been away for a long time. Wasting my time on tumblr and twitter, being generally paralyzed by the state of the world, the usual. But I've found myself wanting to write about films. Currently I am screening the films of Daniel Radcliffe. I was knocked out by Swiss Army Man, about which more in a future entry. I've never seen more than a few minutes of Harry Potter. So I don't come encumbered with any baggage when I watch his films.
So, I’ve been
watching Victor Frankenstein, and I have to say, it stinks. Both James
MacAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe do their damndest to bring the story to
life. But not only have we seen this before, we have to wait for a
hellishly long time for the monster. Which then explodes in a series of
blinding flashes and complete nonsense. At the end the movie sets itself up
for a sequel. Since it flopped, I doubt one is forthcoming.
Watching
on my computer screen is a blessing. I can stop the movie, do some
chores, and come back. I can’t imagine sitting through this on the big
screen.
Good evening, I'll be your tortured freak for the evening
The
beginning is by far the best part of the movie, when Igor (Daniel
Radcliffe) is the abused nameless hunchback/gifted doctor in the circus
who is freed by Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy). Amazingly enough,
the “hump” is a gigantic 18-year-old abscess. Um, okay. The first
intensely homoerotic sequence is Victor smashing the hunchback against a
pillar to straighten his body. Victor names him Igor. Igor is amazed
at standing up. He is told to take a shower and dress and do something
about his hair. Amazingly enough, he knows how to shower, shave, and cut
his hair.
Why look, it’s Daniel Radcliffe.
Within
hours, his gait has straightened, learned to dress
himself in spiffy Victorian fashion, and stride jauntily around the streets of London. Throughout the picture, Radcliffe
manages to suggest his former self at moments. But for the most part he
becomes a proper English gentleman able to dance, fall in love and have
sex with Lady Sybil from Downton Abbey. She has no real identity
because we come for the monster, stay for the hot and heavy bromance. I
love a good potential ship as much as the next fan, but I wanted to
slap James McAvoy. My god, man, you probably didn’t need to go to craft
services because you were too busy chewing scenery.
Aaaaacting!
Victor
and Igor create a chimpanzee and bring it to life, but it turns out to
be a crazed killer in a sequence that doesn’t get anybody killed but
does break a lot of glass. Hunted by an extremely dull police inspector,
they hide out in a castle and bring the monster to life in the last 10
minutes. Right before the whole big bang finale, we hear Igor saying,
“you know the story” which serves to make the ending of the movie even
more tedious.
It involves lots of shouting in the rain. The
monster is–well–a monster. Tries to kill everyone, there are
explosions, screams, minor characters falling to their death blah blah
blah. I’ve watched the ending twice and I still can’t figure out what’s
going on. Explosions, majestic faux-classical chorus, people screaming.
That’s okay, I’ll wait it out. By the way, there’s huge pieces of
metal, guns, electricity–how come it doesn’t occur to anyone to stab the
bloody thing in the HEAD?
The movie flopped, in part because of
its bloated budget. If the filmmakers hadn’t be so in love with their
Sherlock knock-off, they might have cut 30 minutes and cut the redundant
dialogue about life/death God/man. Why bother when we know the ending?
It’s
not all bad. I opened my mail, paused it and made some phone calls,
looked it up on imdb.com and got to look at Daniel Radcliffe. He is sexy
and adorable. I’ve only seen him as adult actor. So I have Harry Potter reference points. Probably good, because then I might be thinking of the Boy Who Lived instead of the Monster Who Died.
Comedian Phyllis Diller, a major star in the 1960s and 1970s, decided to start her own food company. The first (and only) product the company produced was "Phyllis Diller Chili" in 1987. It came in chicken, beef and vegetarian varieties.
Phyllis and her daughters at the inaugural launch of Phyllis Diller Chili
It doesn't seem to have lasted that long, although there are photographs of the cans quietly rusting away.
Chicken Chili with Beans...it's a wonder it didn't fly off the shelves!
I went back for another mammogram and an ultrasound for my left breast.
They found two 'sites', for which I'll have to have a "core" biopsy. Which
can't take place until June 10th. I completely fell apart at the clinic
but I'm calmer now. The doctor came in and talked to me, reassuring me
but also explaining what a lumpectomy is. I was crying uncontrollably--I've never even had a needle biopsy.
"Did you bring someone with you?" he asked.
"N-no."
"Can you get home by yourself?" His demeanor suggested half-concern, half what-the-fuck-do-I-do-with-this-madwoman. I gasped yest.
I want to get in sooner,
but the doctor can only do 2 procedures a day (?) and so if he has one
already booked, I make 3 procedures, so they can't get me in any sooner. SORRY TO INTERFERE WITH YOUR SCHEDULE, MOTHERFUCKER, IT'S ONLY MY FUCKING BREAST. I'LL BE FINE, ASSHOLE.
In
brighter news, I followed my doctor's advice to take a fuckton of
ibuprofen for a few days, to ease the inflammation in my knees. It
seems to have worked. They generally haven't hurt that much anyway.
I know many of you have had severe health
problems, so this must seem like small potatoes.
In May of this year, I discovered that there was a suspicious lump in my left breast. Two, actually.
There's a history of breast cancer in my family. Actually, a host of cancers. So I knew it might happen eventually. And when it did, I was pissed and scared. So these are edited entries I made on a private blog. I called them "The Wonderful Chronicles".
I wouldn't exactly call it my breast cancer journey. It hasn't changed my life in any fundamental way so far. Does that make me a bad cancer patient? Am I not being noble enough?? Should I post photos of myself smiling boldly while wearing a head-scarf? Even if I didn't go through chemo and I still have all of my hair? Anyway, in the grand tradition of over-sharing, here we go.
May 23, 2015
It's Saturday, the first day of our three-day weekend. I got three letters from my doctors after a series of tests:
So, fans were wildly excited for the Season 11 premiere of Supernatural. As you know, I wasn't expecting much. And I got it.
The producers said it would be like The Walking Dead, but they didn't say how much it would be like The Walking Dead. It was, but not in a good way. "The brothers are together again! Season 1 feel! New evil like none of them have ever seen!"
"New evil"? Um, isn't that most seasons, except maybe Season 5? Carry on.
The Road So Far:
"Run To The Jungle" plays over the montage of last season.
Now:
Dean's in a dark swirling cloud. Through the cloud, he espies a babe, a brunette with tumbling brown hair, fashionable dress (didn't get to see the shoes) and, curiously, bra straps. She turns and gives him A Look.
Seriously bad CGI
Bra straps? A bra? They had brassieres before God showed up?
As a woman, I can understand why being imprisoned since before the Dawn of Creation in a bra would be incredible torture. Looks like she had access to pre-Dawn copies of Vogue, too.
"Good evening and welcome to the Darkness. I'll be your designated evil babe this season."
Sam wakes up alone in the Impala, fetchingly bruised and bloodied. Damn, he looks hot. He finds Dean, they do some exposition.
This is just here because I have such hots for Jared Padalecki.
NEW TITLE CARD!
It's the Season 1 title card, with some smoke.
Back To Now, With Occasional Visions
Time for the low-budget version of The Walking Dead! The brothers walk down the road, spot a road crew--all dead. Family in a car--all dead. Since this show doesn't have nearly the $$$ of its predecessor, there's six or seven dead people. A guy with black veiny stuff on his neck comes around from the back of the vehicle: "Stop! We'll shoot!" Guy keeps coming. Oh, shit, a ZOMBIE an infected guy who's pretty pissed. Doesn't make any cool noises, just looks pissed. Down he goes, shot from behind.
A pubescent girl sheriff with amazingly blue eyes pops up from behind the police car armed with a shotgun. We last saw her as the Alpha's child in Season 7, "There Will Be Blood".
"I'll be menstruating by Season 11!"
She orders them to "show her some skin". While I scream with delight, the brothers pull open their collars (just their collars?).
This show can be such a tease. Excuse me while I lick Sam's neck.
It gets a little tricky. I only watched the episode twice. And it didn't keep my attention the second time around, so there will probably be mistakes. Somewhere early on the sheriff anvils, "I thought this job was saving people." Welcome to Supernatural, little girl.
Another of Dean's visions: Darkness feels more peaceful than she has in a long time, she purrs seductively. Oh for God's sake. Peaceful? What was she doing all these eons? Turns out she has a little Mark of Cain on the left shoulder. Duh-duh-dun!
I always picture Colin Ford in the gag reel whenever I write that. I miss Colin Ford.
Meanwhile, Teen Sheriff 's been shot, so they take her to a hospital to stitch her up. When they get there, the receptionist is dead. Out the boys go to Baby's Trunk O'Stuff, and excuse me for saying a loud FUCK YOU to the ever-deceitful CW PR monkeys:
This is the best promo image, and of course it never happened. Not enough $$ to blow shit up.
They come back with weapons and find more dead people, and lights flickering on and off. I expected to see two metal doors chained together with DON'T OPEN DEAD INSIDE but that probably would have gotten the show sued.
The main thing I wish they had ripped off taken from The Walking Dead is the gore. All of the dead people are so tidy. Pools of blood, yeah, but how are they killed? Bitten? Shot? Bitchslapped? How?
Something that jumped out at me--no, not a zombie--is that Dean killed Death and the Darkness doesn't know what Death is. So why are people dying? Shouldn't they be popping back up again?
Dean sews up Teen Sheriff while Sam stalks a rabid guy trying to break the door to the janitor's closet with a fire extinguisher. Pretty smart zombie infected guy. There's a baby crying on the other side of the door. Sam, shoot him! Come on, man, there's a baby's life at stake! Fortunately for everybody, the zombie rabid guy conveniently drops dead and Sam frees the hostages, a baby and her father. Lori died but Judith's still alive--
Shit, wrong show.
Mother's dead, baby's alive. The father is infected. He hands off Judith the baby to Teen Sheriff. By the way, there's a later scene where she diapers the baby because she's a gurl. Didn't Dean become an expert at this stuff in Season 6? "Two Men And A Baby"? Oh, forget I said anything...
Dean has more visions of the Darkness, but really, they're boring and the crappy CGI bugs the hell out of me. She murmurs: “We’re bound, Dean. We’ll always be bound. You helped me, I helped you. No matter where I am, who I am, we will always help each other.”
Dean's all for blasting their way out of the hospital, but Sam gets misty-eyed and says they've gotta change, stop doing the same stuff. Once again they've busted the world, and Sam loooooooves his brother:
And he'd do it again. Despite that meaning that millions will die, Sam says: “This kill first, questions later, what happened to us? Hunting things, we’re good at that, sure. We’re great at that. But that’s only half of the bumper sticker, man.”
Bumper sticker? Okay, cute little meta joke.
This is all undone by the end of the episode and we're back to where we always are. Dean didn't tell Sam the full extent of his conversation with the Darkness; Sam didn't tell Dean he'd been infected. Wow, way to change-up, Supernatural! Dean goes off with Teen Sheriff and Sam stays behind. The usual ignoring things-go-really-bad-when-they-split-up trope.
Father turns zombie rabid, hands off baby saying, "her name is Amara," and drops dead.
MEANWHILE:
Cas is under an attack dog spell, although he's a very well-mannered puppy.
"Once I kill Crowley my blood lust will subside and I will gladly fetch a stick."
A kid finds him in an abandoned cabin. Cas warns, "Don't make me hurt you!"
Looks like that pink-eye is clearing up.
But of course he won't. The attack dog has enough control to barrel out of the cabin into the nearby woods, without killing the kid or his brother and father. It would be such fun watching Rabid!Cas being part of The Darkness and wreaking havoc. Naw, too interesting, let's just have him captured by angels and probably tortured next week with the Angel Headpiece of Doom on.
Crowley's more fun because Crowley's always more fun. While Castiel was busy puncturing him like you puncture a steak before you stick in the garlic cloves, Crowley smoked out and possessed a woman's meatsuit. "She" enters her house to find her husband and an extremely eager couple waiting for her to have an orgy. It's the best scene in the show. It ends badly for everyone but Crowley. When his demons come to fetch him (they've patched up his meatsuit so that Mark Sheppard can keep working) one minion says, “You barely escaped assassination, you’re arguably on the run from the most powerful witch on Earth, not to mention an angel of Heaven. And you didn’t call for help until after the orgy?”
This woman is old enough to have menopause? Fuck you, Supernatural.
Turns out half of Hell is "freaking out" because screams came from the Cage. Michael? Lucifer? Adam? Congratulations, show, you got me to watch next week.
Like everyone stupid enough to lock themselves in a janitor's closet, Sam is Not Alone.
"Oh, no! I've turned into the woman at the beginning of most of our episodes!"
A zombie infected person in nurse's scrubs attacks him. He slits her throat and she bleeds all over him. A group of zombies infected people go for him. But then they sniff, and walk away. He's infected! Cool!
Oh God, I'm dying of the sexy
Somebody says at some point, "the baby eats souls." And wouldn't you know it, Amara has a teeny-weeny Mark of Cain on her shoulder! Some poor woman pushed out The Darkness!
"Get that bottle away from me and gimme your soul!"
That's all I can remember. Can I take my nap now?
RANDOM:
They give Zombie Infected Nurse the loud clacking teeth sound that The Walking Dead uses. Without the actual big teeth and bloody face.
Crowley gets laid more than any of the other three leads.
NEXT WEEK:
Sam gets bloody...and shirtless. And there's other stuff.
As you can see, I skipped reviewing the Supernatural Season 10 finale because it was such a godawful crap fest I couldn't be bothered. The Darkness? Seriously? My expectations for Season 11 are extremely low.
So. I've seen the trailer and the photos of the new female cast member. Color me deeply unimpressed, even angry. And hurt in a strange way. I've been watching this show for the past few years, and caught up on the first few seasons, and all I can say is:
Seriously, guys, are you even trying?
But the Darkness emerging was so scary!
Oh, wait, that's the beginning of Season 3.
The Darkness engulfing Baby was REALLY scary!
Shit, that' s Season 6.
Wait, wait, there's anembodiment of evil in the shape of a young woman!
Damn it! This is Eve, Season 6.
Uh...hmmm...
There's a Lizzie Borden episode!
I should have known when Bruckner and Ross-Leming were in the trailer.
Written for the "Come As You're Not" fiction challenge. The challenge was to write for a bizarre fandom. I picked "Dragnet 1969". You can't get more bizarre than that. NC-17, 'cause it's funny.
Characters: Joe Friday, Bill Gannon. POV: Joe Friday.
Officer Bill Gannon, Sergeant Joe Friday.
This is the city. Los Angeles, California. It’s a nice place to live. We try to keep it that way. But there are rapists, murderers, thieves. Every 60 seconds a crime is committed. That’s where I come in. My name's Friday. I carry a badge.
(DRAGNET THEME)
It is Tuesday afternoon. Then we get the call: a 163 in progress in Yuma City. 3:10, Yuma City. My partner Bill Gannon and I arrive in an unmarked car. By that time the perpetrators have fled.
Gannon: “Well, looks like we have an afternoon on our hands.”
Friday: “Let’s keep an ear on the scanner.” 3:30, Yuma City. The scanner reports routine crimes. Purse snatching. Marijuana bust.
Gannon: “You know, Joe, there’s been something on my mind.”
Friday: “Yeah.”
Gannon: “How ‘bout we have sex? We don’t have to bring the car back until 6:00.”
Bill is right. The car is due in the police garage at no later than 6 p.m.
Friday: “You know a motel?”
Gannon: “Yeah.”
Friday: “Hourly rate?”
Gannon: “It’s cheap enough. Don’t care who you are. One thing.”
Friday: “Yeah?”
Gannon: “Don’t let the wife know.” 3:45, Yuma City. We check into the Yuma City No-Tell Motel.
Clerk: “You want a single room?”
Friday: “Yeah. With extra towels.” 3:47, Yuma City. Officer Bill Gannon and I check into room 317. We draw the shades. Gannon puts the police scanner on the bedside table.
Gannon: “Well, Joe, here we are.” 3:49, No-Tell Motel. Officer Bill Gannon is stripped down to his underwear, revealing a Caucasian male, 5 foot 10 inches, approximately 195 pounds, with a distinctive birthmark on his right hip. I undress in an leisurely manner, so as to not let Gannon know that I am eager.
Gannon: “You use the police gym, don’t you, Joe?”
Friday: “Twice a week. Looks like you could use it a few times.” 3:51. Officer Bill Gannon proceeds to kiss me. He needs a shave. Gannon puts his arms around my waist and continues his osculation.
Friday: “Good kissing.”
Gannon: “Thanks, Joe. How about some tongue.”
Friday: “If that’s what you want.”
I put my tongue in Gannon’s mouth. From his facial expression I deduce that he feels pleasure. So do I. There is an erection in my briefs, indicating sexual arousal.
Gannon: “You want me to suck that?”
Friday: “No. Lie on your stomach.”
Gannon: “Whatever you say, Joe.” 4:15, No-Tell Motel. Officer Bill Gannon lies naked on the left-hand twin bed. I lubricate my penis, which is still erect.
Friday: “You showered?”
Gannon: “Yeah.”
4:17. I lower myself until I am perpendicular to Officer Gannon. I insert my right forefinger into his anus. He responds with what again sounds like pleasure. We have done this many times. I put the lubricating fluid onto my penis, then push into him. It feels good.
Gannon: “Joe, that’s great.”
Friday: “Yeah. Scream like a girl.”
Gannon: “You got it.”
As ordered, Officer Gannon proceeds to scream like an underage female as I slide in and out of his anus. I increase my speed, until he is arching himself under me. I sit up on my knees and hold Gannon’s hips for maximum penetration. I proceed to pound him with alacrity.
Gannon: “Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe”
Friday: “Who carries a badge?”
Gannon: “You carry the badge—Joe—badge—yes—“ 4:26 p.m. Officer Gannon ejaculates. I continue my motions until I, too, ejaculate. 4:31 p.m. No-Tell Motel. We stay in the motel room and share a cigarette. 4:40 p.m. No-Tell Motel. We have sex again. Gannon is always the bottom. 5:02. It is time to return the car.
In recent months, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have been working the convention circuit relentlessly. Videos of the panels show them having fun, cracking each other up, dancing, etc.
Video from SF Con 2015 courtesy of Shaunae Perry
"Y'all are the reason we're here," Jared says at every panel, and I'm starting to wonder if he doesn't mean the amounts J2 get paid to show up at these events. Then they come to work and it's as if they're too tired and hungover to care.
The contrast between Jared in the show and Jared on the stage...does he even care any more? Guest stars and series regulars with family issues are taking up the slack. The show is only nominally about the Winchesters. The credits should read: "Special Guest Stars: Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles".
This egregious pile of crap was shoveled on us by Robbie Thompson (who wrote the other episode about Oz, "Slumber Party") and directed by Phil Sgriccia. It's as if the show reached out of the television and vomited directly into my brain.
THEN: A montage of Charlie Bradbury, adorably nerdy lesbian with mad computer skills and at times teeth-gratingly cute. A montage from "Slumber Party," ending with Charlie and Dorothy going down the yellow brick road to fight a war in Oz. Montage of Mark of Cain!Dean being murderous. Oh, goody! He's going to kill somebody again! WOO-HOO!
NOW: Exterior of house, crashing noises and shouts. A man in a bathrobe, hands bound, face bloody, tears ass out of his house. He lands on the lawn where a dark figure looms about him. It's--Charlie in black! "Who doesn't love a little torture," she purrs and out!
We're in the bunker, where research!Sammy is looking for the lore on the Mark which we've already been told doesn't exist. Hello...how about THE BIBLE? Instead, having finished Catcher In The Rye, he's moved on to The Fountainhead. Dean is preventing the MOC from taking over by gagging down white-egg omelets, 8 hours of "rack time," every night, and no drinking.
"Dude, you will not believe how shitty this episode is gonna be."
"Do I have dialogue?"
"A few lines. Nothing you can't read off a cue card."
"Fine by me."
These tidbits are by far the best part of the episode, particularly when Dean tries to eat a wrap and says, "What the hell is kale?" No clever retort by Sam, he's busy reading The Fountainhead and trying to make sense of Ayn Rand's worldview.
Sam finds a police report of two torture/assaults in Topeka, with a video of Bad Charlie beating the crap out of a local district district attorney. They interview the DA...actually, Sam exposits and Dean goes MOC on his ass, crunching his broken arm to get the name of a prosecutor. Sam stands by and gulps. Which is pretty much all he does for the next hour, except for reading The Fountainhead and providing exposition.
They get to the woman's house to find Bad Charlie holding a knife to a woman's throat. Charlie says that Sam is "all good guy code and no bite."
WHAT THE FUCK? SAM DRANK DEMON BLOOD! HE'S KILLED DOZENS OF PEOPLE! HE WAS LUCIFER! WHO IS THIS GIANT ROBOT?
She calls Sam a "giant albatross around your neck". When did this become a trope?
"I get to act all mean and shit!"
Aaaand there goes Sam's last attempt at dialogue.
Sam dutifully stays behind while Dean runs after Charlie. They have the tussle we've seen in the promos, then Charlie speeds off in the Impala. A moment later, a bright yellow car pulls up, and it's Charlie. "What's new, bitches?" It's Good Charlie!
The three have a drink in a bar. It seems that Bad Charlie resulted when the Wizard of Oz used the key of Oz to open Charlie up and let her Id go free. Bad Charlie single-handedly won the war in Oz (oh, for cryin' out loud) blah bah Good Charlie can feel everything Bad Charlie does blah they escaped to our world blah blah key to Oz blah blah blah. At some point Charlie says something about "we all have a dark side" or "we all have some monster in us" or "Geez, Dean, that Mark is fucking you up". That anvil broke my toes. Dean, do us all a favor and kill both of them, okay?
Charlie shows Sam how to hack into a guy's bank account somebody drive steel nails into my brain blah blah blah Dean goes to protect guy who's going to be killed blah blah Bad Charlie shows up and convinces Dean to stand thirty feet away from the door while she goes in to "talk" her victim. Guess what? She slams the door! She kills the guy! Dean's retarded! I don't care!
Dean's thinking her butt's looking mighty fine in those pants.
Yet ANOTHER surviving Man of Letters is somewhere--wasn't there a massacre at some point? No, I don't remember either.
Blah blah old man is alter-ego of Wizard blah blah broken key of Oz they drive out somewhere old man denies being some old man who is also the MOL/Wizard/Good Guy...old guy shoots himself so Bad Guy/Wizard of Oz has to show up. Why hadn't this happened before, say, when the old guy cut him using a can opener?
Green light!
This is just in here because Sam looks so damn hot.
Wind blows! Stuff shatters! It's going to be EPIC! THE WIZARD OF OZ IS COMING!
What...what...
You know it's bad cosplay when the headpiece is made out of cardboard
THIS is the Great And Powerful Wizard of Oz? Some anonymous dick in an embroidered overcoat? No magical powers? What?
"Dude, I've got like, this really hella great Goth band--"
Blah blah Sam tied up with magical rope blah blah I have no idea what's going on and I don't give a shit blah blah. The only good part is that Dean runs after Bad Charlie and proceeds to beat the life out of her while she dialogues all kinds of bad-guy taunts. We see Good Charlie writhing in pain when Dean goes MOC on Bad Charlie. Is it sick that I really, really wanted to find some good screencaps of Dean smashing Bad Charlie's face?
Old Guy gives Good Charlie significant look and points at his gun. In any other episode this would make the villain kick the gun out of reach, but we're running low on time here. Good Charlie shoots Old Guy, killing the Wizard at the same time.
Crazed Dean thinks he killed Charlie.
She's still alive. Which means she'll be back. Dang.
Good/Bad Charlie morph into Original Flavor Charlie. There's a sweet moment where Sam cradles her as she weeps. Meanwhile Dean looks on doing what he does best, dying of guilt.
Back at the bunker, it's two days later, and the Mark has worked it's most wondrous magic of all--Dean still looks like he's had the shit pounded out of him. Usually the Winchester's wounds insta-heal, even when Castiel isn't around to heal them. This is honestly great. The messed up face adds to his look of guilt, especially when he sees Charlie's equally messed-up face and broken arm.
But! They've found a book from Tuscany that might lead to important information about the Mark! Charlie's going to Tuscany to find out what it is!
Say again?
Shouldn't Sam be doing this? Mad research skills Sammy? Fighting for his brother Sammy? But honestly, he's digging The Fountainhead and Howard Roark and the chick smashing the vase because it's beautiful and--
Don't worry, Jensen, we've got a convention in San Pedro this weekend.
Random Thoughts
Now we know what Sam's storyline is: worrying about Dean. Gulping. Standing around. Meanwhile, Jared's thinking about his sons' college fund. I can't think of any other explanation.
Felicia Day did a good job playing all three flavors of Charlie. I was so disappointed when she became the "real" Charlie again, because that Charlie needs to never come back.
Next week: Dean's turned into a teenager. Hilarity ensues, especially when teen Dean discovers the Mark is a chick magnet.
